In the beginning…

Friends for Satsuma Schools was originally formed with the intent to encourage the citizens of Satsuma to vote “yes” to the creation of the Satsuma City School System in 2011. After months of hard work and dedication, the results were announced, the school system was formed, and the first project of the organization was deemed a success. After this, the group wanted to continue helping the schools. Before the next school year began, the Friends for Satsuma Schools organization helped clean the school grounds, move furniture, landscape, and powerwash the buildings and sidewalks.

Since 2011, Friends for Satsuma Schools has awarded $159,000 in teacher grants and school equipment, given $17,000 in scholarships, partnered with Lee School and Lions Club to build the Outdoor Classroom, read to students, participated in the Copy Cats, helped with Kindergarten graduation, sixth-grade farewell, and the annual girls senior tea.
